What is the Difference Between a Porcelain and a Composite Veneer?

young lady in yellow shirt smilingNothing should keep you from beaming when you look in the mirror. Maybe you’re unhappy with chipped or worn-down teeth, or you don’t like the shape of one or two teeth in particular. Veneers may be the perfect solution to get your confidence back up, transforming not only the way you appear but also how you feel about yourself.

Our clinic offers both porcelain and composite options, working with every individual’s needs to make a better smile doable for everyone.

Porcelain Veneers

We recommend porcelain veneers for most people, as this is the most customisable option. Patients often choose porcelain for a durable, long-lasting smile that gives them the best look possible.

Our team of dentists will work together with you over the course of a few visits to design the precise look you want. If we’re only addressing a small area, we might just do a mockup inside your mouth. For a more thorough makeover, we’ll take pictures inside and outside of your mouth, then use software to help you envision your new smile.

Once you’re sure everything looks right, we’ll take impressions for a perfect fit. We may fit you with temporary veneers while you wait for your long-term veneers to be ready. From there, all we have to do is schedule you for a final fitting and bond them to your teeth. Your amazing new smile isn’t going anywhere!

Composite Veneers

While composite veneers cost less and only take one visit, they don’t last as long as the porcelain ones and cannot be customised with the same level of specificity. This is an in-chair procedure that simply involves applying a bit of white filling to the tooth to fill in a chip or smooth out a rough shape.

We may talk with you about using a composite veneer if you need a temporary solution after a dental emergency.
