Medicare Child Dental Benefit Schedule

Medicare Child Dental Benefit Schedule KewAt Willsmere Dental, we are passionate about helping children achieve and maintain excellent oral health for a lifetime. That’s why we are pleased to accept the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS). We have two phases of care for children:

Phase 1: Identify and Prevent

This preventative care phase may include an examination, clean, bitewing X-rays, application of remineralisation agent, and preventative fissure teeth sealants. These sealants are a coating that’s painted on the tooth surface to protect against decay. No drilling is involved. If we determine that your child requires additional treatment, we will email you our recommendations.

Phase 2: Restore and Protect

This appointment typically takes place 3-8 weeks after your child’s first visit. During this appointment, any necessary treatment that your child requires will be completed. We encourage parents to accompany their children to these Phase 2 visits.

Any treatments that we provide during this phase may be covered by the Medicare CDBS for children who are eligible. To determine whether your child is eligible under the CDBS, please call Medicare on 132 011. For additional information about the CDBS and how it works, visit the Australian Government Department of Human Services website. There, you also will find bulk billing information .

What If My Child Isn’t Eligible?

If your child doesn’t meet the eligibility requirements for the Medicare CDBS, we can still see them as private patients. The rate you will be charged is the same as that of Medicare. Please note that the treatment may be covered under your private health insurance. You may be able to recover a percentage of this price from your private insurance company.

We invite you to schedule your child’s next appointment today!
